The Kestrel is intended as a logical step up from the popular Merlin but that little bigger and more 'scale' in appearance. Built from a combination of CNC and Die-Cut components, construction is simple and quick. The characteristic T-Tail and cockpit area have been styled on many of the full-size, glass fibre gliders you see in the skies today. Even though this is a simple model, it still has that real visual appeal too!
The fuselage and tail build up from sheet components and are a real joy to assemble. What's more, you end up with a finished fuselage in
double-quick time!

Twin engine, rubber-powered models are notoriously hard to fly, but by choosing the West Wings Dornier 335, you can have a twin with no vices. Having both motors in line prevents asymmetric thrust problems and with each propeller rotating in opposition there are no 'torque' turning worries either. In fact, it's hard to envisage a more optimum power installation. The kit is supplied with two plastic propellers, but you can make your own 3-bladers from the supplied components. This is very easy to do and highly satisfying.

The kit requires all formers to be cut from pre-printed sheets and as such, a little care and finesse is necessary. The fuselage 'shell' halves are then built up over the plan before being joined together at the end. Like all similar structures, the strength is derived from the tissue covering. Wings are conventional and each is built over the plan before 'butt' joining to the fuselage.

Scale refinements such as exhaust stacks, carburettor scoops and the undercarriage are detailed on the plan, and a set of waterslide decals are provided for that finishing touch.

This rubber powered West Wings Spitfire is a great model that has undoubted 'Spitfire' presence and combines that with superb flying performance.

That characteristic 'Elliptical' wing is faithfully recreated, down to the curved upper surface of the main wing spar and the often overlooked straight centre section.

The wing fairings are carefully constructed from a combination of balsa formers and curved paper.

The paper areas are printed on the plan to make this easy for you. All wing components are derived from printed balsa sheets and the supplied strip wood.

The fuselage is built up in our familiar 'half shell' construction over the plan using printed sheets and strip

B17 Flying fortress giant scale balsa kit 45 3/4" (114.3 cm), this model can be either made as a static or flying model.

The B-17 lived up to its "flying fortress" nickname during World War 2 when it penetrated deep into the Third Reich to blast German war production facilities. Bristling with machine guns, the "G" version of the B-17 was a formidable opponent for enemy fighters being able to absorb extensive battle damage and still survive to deliver its bomb cargo on designated targets. Flown by the Eighth Air Force, the B-17G proved the feasibility of strategic daytime bombing at a time when the concept was questioned because of losses suffered from enemy defenses during the early war years. The superior combat record of the B-17 won it a deserved reputation as one of aviation’s most successful bomber designs.

  • Comprehensive step-by-step instructions
  • Stripwood &  balsa parts, over 300 die-cut parts
